Dog Days Of Summer Kicks Off In New Rochelle, Concert Series Continues

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The Dog Days of Summer event, presented by PopRocs, will be under way beginning Wednesday at Memorial Plaza.

The 99 Sublime Collective will liven up the evening with free music, while Mesh Print Studio screenprints pieces right in front of you.

Mateo Mattia will feature its hand-crafted leather goods; Brutalhonestees will feature its feminist apparel; Maya Menon will showcase her artistic pet portraits and accept commissions for original, personal portraits; Lupita’s Tattoos will showcase and discuss tattoos including any of your pet and open their Memorial Plaza studio to the public; Susan Nagib, a professional photographer will take free photo portraits of pets, courtesy of the city's Business Improvement District.

Barking Bones, a downtown store, will feature its fashionable pet couture and products;  Petland Discounts will have products to meet your pet needs and offer special 'New Rochelle Dog Days of Summer’ discount coupons for their downtown store; The New Rochelle Humane Society will be there to discuss adopting and caring for pets; New Rochelle Artist Association members Rita Rizzo (pastels), Alina Bachmann (mixed media), and Jesse Sanchez (painting), will exhibit their artworks, many of which will have pet and animal themes; and Benjamin Kent of the New Rochelle Arts Collective will premiere their Living Room Theater, featuring exhibitions of local artists and live street art demonstrations.

In addition, local restaurants Alvin & Friends, Shooters and McKiernan’s will be offering drink specials from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The New Rochelle Council on the Arts' Summer Sounds Concert Series continues on Aug. 19 at Hudson Park with Alive 'N' Kickin' playing top-of-the-chart hits from every era and every genre. 

The Summer Sounds concert series is presented by the New Rochelle Council on the Arts, in partnership with the New Rochelle Dept. of Parks and Recreation, and co-sponsored by Webster Bank and People’s United Bank.
